We are thrilled to announce that we've raised $4.3 million in an oversubscribed seed round led by Julie Lein and her team at the Urban Innovation Fund (UIF).
Our angel investors include Zack Rosen (co-founder @ Pantheon, CA YIMBY, Abundance Network), Brian McClendon (co-creator of Google Earth & Google Maps), Rose Bloomin (co-founder @ Plurality Institute), Adam Cohen (VP of Eng @ Instacart), David Bloomin (co-founder @ SoftMax), and Steve Bartel (CEO @ Gem).
What Julie and our angels share is a conviction that America has to change how it builds. To get there requires ambition that matches the scale of the problem. That's why we built Mason AI.
Where we started
Mason AI is a lean, fully technical team born out of a shared passion for unlocking housing abundance in America.
- Salim (CEO): An Oxford and Berkeley-educated statistician, Salim was an early engineer on Synopsys's DSO.ai, which brought RL to computer chip design and earns tens of millions in ARR.
- Alex (CTO): Coming from a family of architects and engineers, Alex built Gem's AI sourcing tool, which notched $1M ARR in its first year.
We're relentlessly focused on changing how America builds. Drafting code-compliant blueprints for an apartment should be effortless and take a day, not the ten months it takes today.
What we've done
We built Mason with the conviction that a fully agentic architecture is the only way to compound wins over time with future model improvements. To solve the 'physical world' complexity of blueprints—a classic case of Moravec's paradox—we built a proprietary computer vision model with a domain-specific architecture to give Mason better eyes. To manage the massive context of highly-detailed blueprints, we manually reviewed hundreds of blueprints to gain an intuition for clever ways to optimize our context engineering framework. The result is that Mason's accuracy is unmatched by other offerings on the market and on par with human professionals early in their career.
Hundreds of cities send blueprints to private plan reviewers who trust Mason to act as an extra pair of eyes. Reviewers have reported saving multiple hours per review and can perform architectural review as much as 60% faster.
Where we're going
It's time to build. By the end of the year, Mason will be able to review every major project type (including multifamily, commercial, and mixed-used projects) across the country. We'll build on that technical breakthrough by embedding Mason directly into the CAD tools that architects use—making it instantaneous and effortless to draft code-compliant blueprints.
To get there, we're hiring founding engineers, a founding GTM lead, and an in-house principal plan reviewer. If you want to help us change how America builds, find our open roles at withmason.ai/careers.
